Awhile back I shared the incident about Cindy putting her sock in my coffee. This morning I went upstairs for a moment, only to find Cindy’s pill box in my coffee when I came back down. Some folks might be upset seeing a pill box in their coffee, but my immediate reaction was a belly laugh. I could not help but imagine Cindy sending me a message via my coffee.
The sock? Obviously a message about the laundry. Not enough starch in her shirts? Considering I never use any, perhaps a possibility. Or maybe I don’t do laundry enough?
The pill box? I don’t know what’s up with that. I was late a couple times this week; Cindy did not receive her morning pills until lunch time. Yet I was on time this morning and, besides, by now I don’t think Cindy is quite fine with missing a pill session or two. Perhaps that’s it, she’s sending a message that she’s getting fed up with pills.
But why always the coffee? Considering how often we have smoothies I half expect to find “messages” dropped into those at some point. The same thing applies with my “brain health” soup. Coffee is equated with waking up or becoming alert. Maybe Cindy is “alerting” me with these messages.
Upon my belly laugh, Cindy laughed hard as well, just stopping short of the tears in your eyes stage of laughing. Cindy always is quick to laugh at herself; her affliction provides plenty of opportunity for that and makes life that much easier for me. For that matter, being able to laugh at a pill box in my coffee, rather than be upset or concerned, makes life that much easier for Cindy. This makes us a good team for this episode in our lives, as with all our other episodes.
I hope that I can always remember your ability to find the humor in what could be “not” so humorous given your circumstances. But, when you think of it, why wouldn’t it be funny? Didn’t want those pills anyway! Blessing to you both.
