To promote happiness we can say “Be Happy” instead of “Be Safe” when we part. When we first bump into someone we can say “See any kindness lately?”
This will work better if you have a recent kind story to share yourself. You want to be prepared when someone else draws a blank yet you want to establish that kindness occurs. The kindness I learned about today was a youth work camp trip from Norfolk’s Congregational Church. Twenty-seven youth and eight adults went to Camden, NY this past week where they did a lot of home repair.
I know that sounds like something big, but small acts of kindness go on all the time. An encouraging smile is an act of kindness. Holding a door open at a store is an act of kindness. If you start tuning yourself into these ever present acts your outlook on life will improves, as will the people you greet with “See any kindness lately?”
