For the past three weeks we have taken in a “houseless” person who turns out to be quite a handyman. I’d like to make several short posts about this, the first being this is an example of community economics at work. Michael can’t afford shelter right now; we can’t afford some of the home repairs that were piling up. Yet through bartering, a cornerstone of community economics, everyone gets what they need.
When an entrenched system of corporate economics inflates and concentrates the value of currency independently of merit, community economics is provides a way out for anyone.
