People Met = 2+
We are taking a couple rest days in Parkersburg to catch up with Internet stuff, including preparing the next newsletter. We are staying at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, a fitting bookend to our journey through Ohio considering we started off with a stay at an Episcopalian convent. This evening there was a Narcotics Anonymous St. Patrick’s Day party here at the church. I got to speak with the organizers, Brannon and Christina, a husband and wife team.
Christina has been clean for seven years and started to work for a treatment center within that time. Her and hubby Brannon were more than gracious in inviting us to come to the party. I only went for a little bit, enough to see a bunch of people genuinely having a really good time. Christina was beaming with pride over it, mentioning how great it was that people can be clean and have fun!
Early on in Ohio I made some podcasts that I thought would be in our next newsletter, coming out real soon. As we continued through the state I made additional podcasts that I thought would be better suited for the newsletter. That leaves me with some extra podcasts to share before we “close the book” on Ohio.
First off, here’s a podcast of the sounds of spring I recorded near the end of our trek along the Buckeye Trail.
This podcast featured Lions Chris and Debbie Nichols near Cincinnati. It’s an inspiring tale of how they chose to help a homeless man they discovered.
Finally, this is a podcast of an inspiring account by Sharon Bell of Blue Creek, who works in the court system as a family mediator.
