Idaho Road to Woodson Road; Distance = 15 Miles; People Met = 10
Our pace has picked up recently, we slack pack roads at about 4 mph now, and as a consequence I overestimated the time for Ky to meet us. We waited in a chill wind for 40 minutes, and that might have contributed to the cold I came down with that night.
Fortunately, we could wait out an extra rainy, blustery day at the Light Center. This was another stop made through “a connection of a connection,” something that occurs a bit on this trip. The Light Center is currently the product of three people: Matt, Adam and Christee. Retreats have been held at the Center since long before these three arrived, but they are the ones putting into place “a model of Heart-Centered Living.” They refine their values and determine their projects on a weekly basis. Currently they have worked hard at preparing to be self-sufficient for the winter months.
Four kids live at the center under the care of Adam and Christee. Calliope is the oldest at 12, and accepts responsibility to help out as an adult. Clover and Phineas are younger, with active imaginations and personalities. Mayara is but a toddler who gets around at amazing speed.
Matt predates the family at the Center by a few months. We connected well as both philosophical and musical types. Matt was looking for a place where he could live “off the grid,” and was led to here. The Light Center also involves Love Light, but to understand how that all works, let’s listen to Matt and Christee.
