Finally the journey begins! Last night I held a dress rehearsal of the Believe in Humanity program before the hometown crowd. Good times and good food (a potluck, of course) was had by all. At the end we held hands in a circle while people expressed their wishes for us. Our two daughters and Ky’s daughter all wished we would come back safely. Afterwards my daughters informed me that the stories they’ve heard of my antics on previous backpacking adventures prompted their foremost concern for our safety.
We returned home to pack our remaining gear into the support vehicle in a downpour, and at 10:30 p.m. we finally headed off into the thunder and lightning. The weather forecast for Connecticut predicted rain for several more days and as we are now headed west on Interstate 80 we can see why. The rain has been near constant as we now approach the Ohio.
At least this can’t keep up all the way to Point Reyes; can it?
Wishing you the best of luck. I will look forward to follow your journey. God speed.
Thank you, Mary Ann.
We’re thinking of you. Have a great trip!
Thanks neighbors! We start in about 2 hours!
