People Met = 7
Let’s start with two people I did not meet, Connie and Mike. They are noted trail angels for the American Discovery Trail. Byron Guy recommended I get in touch with them and the original plan was for us to stay with them this evening. Unfortunately, we had to make a choice.
While hiking always has been our passion, this journey is but a means towards another end, promoting the causes of kindness and community to address Housing, Health and Hunger. The opportunity came here in Waverly to put together a couple of podcasts of nonprofits doing good work towards Housing and Hunger.
One of the points being made in these podcasts is how much the need has grown just over the past five years. This has been echoed elsewhere along our journey and I’m not sure I’ve emphasized that enough. Mainly, I concentrate on the good, the kindness, but we need to keep in our minds why kindness is particularly important now. With this in mind, our mission trumped our passion for what we did today.
Admittedly, there are no complaints with staying at Bristol Village another evening, or with avoiding a third straight day of flurries and cold weather, but we will have a pang of regret that we never got to meet one of the noted trail angel couple along the American Discovery Trail. Anyways, here are two podcasts about nonprofits in Pike County doing good things.
Glad you got to meet Judy. She’s an incredible woman and has accomplished so much for this area!
Thanks for adding that in about Judy.
