Have you ever gone to a movie when it first came out, knowing nothing about it at all, only to discover a new blockbuster? That was my experience when I first saw Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. The movie was the only one playing at the time, the only reason why I went. Wow!
That was our experience as we hiked through Roxborough State Park. The official route of the ADT, Waterton Canyon, was closed and Roxborough was the alternate. Wow! The changing colors of vegetation this time of year blended with the varying colors of rock throughout the park. Check out the photo album I loaded on our facebook page.
We crossed paths with a few people throughout the day, but lingered for awhile to chat with only two. Bill is a banker from Texas up for a meeting in Denver. He was a football player at Nebraska and we chatted about conference realignments, basketball and volleyball. He knew the football coach at the University of Kansas and may get in touch with him about my presentation to colleges.
David Greene hailed from Kansas City originally and went to Kansas State. His parents retired to Hays, Kansas while he came out to Aurora, Colorado because of the outdoors. When he found out what we were doing he offered us virtually everything in his day pack. After some reluctance, we gratefully settled on an apple, fruit cookie and some more water.
