We were able to slack pack the first 10 miles of this day along Utah 12, one of the most scenic highways you will find. Ky dropped us off where she picked us up the evening before, having been contacted by the kind Aussie family (if you are reading this and you are really British, my apologies, I should have gotten more information about you).
Our full packs were left for us to pick up at Pleasant Creek Campground. We met the campground host Mueriel when we dropped them off and her husband Steve when we picked them up. We did most of our chatting with Steve, who gave us each a bar of Mueriel’s homemade soap. I’m not sure if that was out of pure generosity or a hint.
Steve had driven in a 4 x 4 the route we planned to take by Lower Bowns Reservoir, down Sheets Draw, and over to South Draw through Capitol Reef National Park. He mentioned where an “oasis” could be found in Sheets Draw and we made that our destination for that day. We were not disappointed, as this video reveals:
Great shots on the video….another day in Paradise.
Thanks, Sharon.
