Being normal can mean different things. For example, not being an abnormal psychopath is a good thing, but so is not losing your identity by conforming to the norm. I’ve been dwelling on the question of being normal under natural conditions of late. The roots of kindness, community and humanity lie very much in this type of normality. Viewed from this perspective much of civilization is abnormal, even as much of civilization is conforming. Please join me on this blog for awhile in a little journey of wandering and wondering about what it means to be normal, why civilization gets in the way, and how we might return to a normal/natural condition of kindness, community and humanity even though we’re civilized.
