Brain Health Checklist – Diet Objectives

Overall diet objectives begins my brain health checklist. Simply put the diet needs to provide the best nutrients for brain health function and the best protection from harm. Using Dr. Dale Bredesen’s Therapeutic System as a guide I will dive into these objectives more thoroughly over the next series of post, as well as reveal my own approach to addressing these objectives.

For nutrient objectives I will cover such things as cognitive enhancement, maintaining synapses and mitochondrial function. For protection objectives I will cover the value of anti-inflammatory, low glycemic, anti-oxidant and healthy gastrointestinal foods. From that list of protection objectives you probably have gathered already that what is good for brain health is good for general health; what maintains brain tissue maintains body tissue in general. Even if there is something else about your health that concerns you more at the moment.

There is more to the Therapeutic System than diet; there is more to brain health than the Therapeutic System. Over time I will be covering exercise, social and activity objectives as well. Please feel free to add your comments, questions and suggestions to any of this; let us help each other in our quest to maintain brain health.
